How We Protect Personal Data

We are duly registered by Kenya's Office of the Data Protection Commissioner as a DATA CONTROLLER, meaning we can collect, store and use data in accordance to the (Kenya) Data Protection Act of 2019 and the related Data Protection Regulations. All data we collect is stored in highly secure servers. We use one of the leading data hosts in the world, AWS, which has a reputation for data security and adherence to international standards of data protection.

We apply several measures to protect data. These include:

1. Data access restrictions. Only designated personnel can access specified data in our company. Our Technical Services Lead acts as the chief data custodian.
2. Encription of personal data. This the conversion of personal information and data into code (ciphertext format) that cannot be easily read, as a measure to prevent unauthorized access and maintain data authenticity. Such data can only be read through a process known as decryption, which requires a key. This way, ensure data remains authentic and confidential.
3. Use of 2-factor authentication. When logging into this platform, you are required to enter a one-time passcode. This process is to ensure confirmation that the account owner is the one login in.
4. Expiry of sessions. We log the User out of the system automatically when the set session duration is exhausted without the User being active. This protects data from access during the absence of the logged-in User.
5. Secure server environment. We host data only with highly reputable data hosts. We use the best in the world. This is to ensure that data is safe from hackers.
6. Backups. We take regular scheduled data backups, to ensure data recovery in the event of a disaster.
7. Non-sale policy. We do not sell or trade in personal data. That is a strict no-go zone for our company as a matter of policy.
8. Privacy policy. We provide a privacy policy that clearly explains how we use the data we store, which primarily is use of data for the purpose it was collected with the permission of the data subject.
